Patient Care Technician II - Prep Center
Job Requirements

Under the supervision of licensed nursing staff, the Patient Care Technician II delivers direct patient care, including obtaining vital signs, assisting with activities of daily living, performing blood draws, and collecting specimen samples. This position plays a critical role in ensuring patient safety and comfort, supporting admissions, transfers, and discharges, and collaborating with the healthcare team to monitor and communicate changes in patient condition. Key responsibilities include managing catheter care, conducting blood glucose monitoring, performing venipuncture and IV placement, assisting with wound care and enteral feedings, operating EKG machines, and responding promptly to patient alarms. The technician is responsible for maintaining a safe clinical environment, ensuring patient rooms and supplies are well-stocked, mentoring junior technicians, and strictly adhering to safety protocols to enhance patient outcomes and facilitate efficient patient flow during night shifts in a full-time capacity.



Work Experience

Education and Experience for the Patient Care Technician II position require a high school diploma or equivalent, current Maryland state certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA), and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. A minimum of one year of relevant experience is preferred. Candidates should demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills, the ability to foster effective interpersonal relationships and collaborate within a team, and the capability to prioritize tasks and perform efficiently under pressure. Proficiency in computer systems, precise blood glucose testing and documentation, and the competence to execute delegated nursing tasks with sensitivity to diverse patient needs are essential. Furthermore, candidates must exhibit thorough knowledge and accountability in aseptic techniques.
